Build an ordering menu

Create a menu

1. Go to Ordering › Menus.
2. Click Create menu.
3. Enter a Name, and a Description (optional) if you like.
4. Under Live at, choose the venues guests can order at.
5. With more than one Square account, choose which Takes payment, or leave Decide per venue.
6. Click Create.

Or click Generate from Square, choose the Venue and click Generate. Square categories become sections, synced items become products, and scheduled categories carry their hours. Check the preview, then click Create menu. Nothing saves before that. Bring in your products first.

Venues, images, hours and policy

• Venues tab: Live at, Zones and Brand kit.
• Images tab: Header image and Gallery.
• Hours tab: Menu hours, then Save hours. Guests can order only during these.
• Policy tab: service charge, notes, allergens and the sold-out buffer, then Save policy.

To take pre-orders for bookings, turn on the menu's Pre-ordering switch on Menus. See set up pre-orders.

Check it worked

With Active on, click the share button on Menus, open the menu link and check the order. To take orders by QR code, see set up order at table.

Good to know

• No share link? Turn the menu on and make it live at a venue first.
• Delete menu stops guests ordering from it everywhere. Past orders keep their lines.
• Removing a product from a section leaves it in the catalogue and on other menus.
• Sections and products can have their own hours, so one menu can run breakfast, lunch and dinner.
• Duplicate makes a copy that starts off and not live anywhere.
